CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES

Hands on early years learning and exciting play activities, Chippenham

A multiracial group of preschoolers or kindergarteners having fun in the classroom. Six children are sitting around a little wooden table playing with colorful wooden block and geometric shapes. The playful little girl in the foreground is making a silly face at the camera.
At Dodford Farm Daycare Nursery we encourage learning through play and hands on activity. Activities such as painting, puzzle solving, and story reading help the children to learn whilst they have fun.

We also have two large outdoor play areas where the children can enjoy a wide variety of different play activities. They can ride bikes, play ball games, climb the climbing frame and much more. Being on a working farm we also try to use our surroundings as much as possible. For example, in the spring we hatch our own chicken's eggs from incubators for all the children to see and participate in, much to their excitement.

The EYFS Framework:

The EYFS framework started in September 2008. This framework encourages children to learn through play by concentrating on their interests. This is achieved by providing more child-led activities, giving the children more choice and incorporating the children's own interests into our planning. In order to implement the framework effectively we carry out observations of the children so that we can determine their progress and development levels. This then enables us to tailor the delivery of our teaching to each individual child and guide their learning whilst building upon their strengths and developing areas for improvement.

Through these activities we aim to ensure we give your child the foundations on which to build when it's time to go to school.
